Development of Activated Riparian Zones for mitigating pesticide and nitrate diffuse pollution into surface water
AQUAREHAB will investigate the capacity of Wetlands to control the diffuse pollution of surface waters by agricultural activities – focusing on:
- capacity of wetlands to filter pesticides and nitrates
- seasonal effects on performance of wetlands
- dynamic processes and resilience of wetland systems
- methods to activate/reactivate wetlands
- models to predict the effectiveness of riparian zones accounting for seasonal disturbances
